But the king will be filled with joy because of what God has done. All those who make promises in God’s name will be able to brag. But the mouths of liars will be shut.

So poor people have hope. And God shuts the mouths of those who don’t treat others fairly.

Honest people see it and are filled with joy. But no one who is evil has anything to say.

He says to them, “I have placed my king on my holy mountain of Zion.”

Lord, the king is filled with joy because you are strong. How great is his joy because you help him win his battles!

Their lips tell lies. Let them be silenced. They speak with pride against those who do right. They make fun of them.

We didn’t forget our God. We didn’t spread out our hands in prayer to a false god.

At that time the people of five cities in Egypt will worship the Lord. He is the Lord who rules over all. They will use the Hebrew language when they worship him. They will promise to be faithful to him. One of those cities will be called the City of the Sun.

I have made a promise in my own name. I have spoken with complete honesty. I will not take back a single word. I said, ‘Everyone will kneel down to me. Everyone’s mouth will make promises in my name.’

They will ask me to bless their land. They will do it in my name. I am the one true God. They will make promises in their land. They will do it in my name. I am the one true God. The troubles of the past will be forgotten. They will be hidden from my eyes.

So let their children die of hunger. Let my enemies be killed in war. Let their wives lose their children and husbands. Let their men be put to death. Let their young men be killed in battle.

I will destroy those who bow down on their roofs to worship all the stars. I will destroy those who make promises not only in my name but also in the name of Molek.

What the law says, it says to those who are ruled by the law. Its purpose is to shut every mouth and make the whole world accountable to God.

Worship the Lord your God. He is the only one you should serve. When you make promises, do so in his name.

When God made his promise to Abraham, God gave his word. There was no one greater than himself to promise by. So he promised by making an appeal to himself.

“Don’t be afraid,” he said. “My father Saul won’t harm you. You will be king over Israel. And I will be next in command. Even my father Saul knows this.”

I know for sure that you will be king. I know that the kingdom of Israel will be made secure under your control.
