“The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me. I spoke his word with my tongue.

So Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher who knew the Law of Moses very well. The Lord, the God of Israel, had given Israel that law. The king had given Ezra everything he asked for. That’s because the Lord his God helped him.

What I say comes from an honest heart. My lips speak only what I know is true.

So let’s choose for ourselves what is right. Let’s learn together what is good.

He says to them, “I have placed my king on my holy mountain of Zion.”

A deer longs for streams of water. God, I long for you in the same way.

My mouth will speak wise words. What I think about in my heart will give you understanding.

God, save me. My troubles are like a flood. I’m up to my neck in them.

Shepherd of Israel, hear us. You lead the people of Joseph like a flock. You sit on your throne between the cherubim. Show your glory

The hearts of wise people guide their mouths. Their words make people want to learn more.

“The king was at his table. My perfume gave off a sweet smell.

I will sing a song for the Lord. He is the one I love. It’s a song about his vineyard Israel. The one I love had a vineyard. It was on a hillside that had rich soil.

A good man says good things. These come from the good that is stored up inside him. An evil man says evil things. These come from the evil that is stored up inside him.

“Then the King will speak to those on his right. He will say, ‘My Father has blessed you. Come and take what is yours. It is the kingdom prepared for you since the world was created.

Above his head they placed the written charge against him. It read, This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.

That is a deep mystery. But I’m talking about Christ and the church.

Prophecy never came simply because a prophet wanted it to. Instead, the Holy Spirit guided the prophets as they spoke. So, although prophets are human, prophecy comes from God.
