Foolish people say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They do all kinds of horrible and evil things. No one does anything good.

God, listen to my prayer. Pay attention to my cry for help.

Lord who rules over all, blessed is the person who trusts in you.

You forgave the evil things your people did. You took away all their sins.

Blessed are those who have learned to shout praise to you. Lord, they live in the light of your kindness.

“Come. Let us settle this matter,” says the Lord. “Even though your sins are bright red, they will be as white as snow. Even though they are deep red, they will be white like wool.

“I am the one who wipes out your lawless acts. I do it because of who I am. I will not remember your sins anymore.

I will sweep your sins away as if they were a cloud. I will blow them away as if they were the morning mist. Return to me. Then I will set you free.”

Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah! No mere human showed this to you. My Father in heaven showed it to you.

He replied, “Instead, blessed are those who hear God’s word and obey it.”

“Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will have the right to come to the tree of life. They will be allowed to go through the gates into the city.
