If the Lord doesn’t build a house, the work of the builders is useless. If the Lord doesn’t watch over a city, it’s useless for those on guard duty to stand watch over it.

The Lord guards them and keeps them alive. They are counted among those who are blessed in the land. The Lord won’t hand them over to the wishes of their enemies.

God, you will bring sinners down to the grave. Murderers and liars won’t live out even half of their lives. But I trust in you.

He has kept us alive. He has kept our feet from slipping.

They will lift you up in their hands. Then you won’t trip over a stone.

He guards the path of those who are honest. He watches over the way of his faithful ones.

Then you will go on your way in safety. You will not trip and fall.

The Lord will be at your side. He will keep your feet from being caught in a trap.

“I am the Lord. I watch over my vineyard. I water it all the time. I guard it day and night. I do it so no one can harm it.

Through faith you are kept safe by God’s power. Your salvation is going to be completed. It is ready to be shown to you in the last days.

He guards the paths of his faithful servants. But evil people will lie silent in their dark graves. “People don’t win just because they are strong.
