My go-between is my friend as I pour out my tears to God.

Please don’t let me be put to shame. Your laws are good.

Then I can answer anyone who makes fun of me, because I trust in your word.

Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live in the land and enjoy its food.

He will make the reward for your godly life shine like the dawn. He will make the proof of your honest life shine like the sun at noon.

Save me from all the wrong things I’ve done. Don’t let foolish people make fun of me.

My body suffers deadly pain as my enemies make fun of me. All day long they say to me, “Where is your God?”

So let us go to him outside the camp. Let us be willing to suffer the shame he suffered.

But suppose you receive a beating for doing wrong, and you put up with it. Will anyone honor you for this? Of course not. But suppose you suffer for doing good, and you put up with it. God will praise you for this.

Nabal answered David’s servants, “Who is this David? Who is this son of Jesse? Many servants are running away from their masters these days.

David heard that Nabal was dead. So he said, “Give praise to the Lord. Nabal was rude to me. But the Lord stood up for me. He has kept me from doing something wrong. He has paid Nabal back for the wrong things he did.” Then David sent a message to Abigail. He asked her to become his wife.
