I trust in you with all my heart. Don’t let me wander away from your commands.

All the people of Judah were happy about the promise they had made. They turned to God with all their heart. When they did, they found him. So the Lord gave them peace and rest on every side.

You turn your back on all those who wander away from your orders. Their wrong thoughts will be proved to be wrong.

Teach me how to live as you have promised. Don’t let any sin be my master.

Like a lost sheep, I’ve gone down the wrong path. Come and look for me, because I haven’t forgotten to obey your commands.

Blessed are those who obey his covenant laws. They trust in him with all their hearts.

You correct proud people. They are under your curse. They wander away from your commands.

Help me understand your law so that I may follow it. I will obey it with all my heart.

I have looked to you with all my heart. Be kind to me as you have promised.

The lies of proud people have taken away my good name. But I follow your rules with all my heart.

But the Lord will drive out those who have taken crooked paths. He will drive them out with those who do evil things. May Israel enjoy peace.

He gives me new strength. He guides me in the right paths for the honor of his name.

They turned away from him. They weren’t faithful to the covenant he had made with them.

Men like that have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways.

Whoever leaves the path of understanding ends up with those who are dead.

A wide road will go through the land. It will be called the Way of Holiness. Only those who lead a holy life can use it. “Unclean” and foolish people can’t walk on it.

In spite of all this, their sister nation Judah did not come back to me. They were not faithful to me either. They did not return with all their heart. They only pretended to,” announces the Lord.

My sheep wandered all over the mountains and high hills. They were scattered over the whole earth. No one searched for them. No one looked for them.”

Their hearts are dishonest. So now they must pay for their sins. The Lord will tear down their altars. He’ll destroy their sacred stones.

“No one can serve two masters at the same time. You will hate one of them and love the other. Or you will be faithful to one and dislike the other. You can’t serve God and money at the same time.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything. Don’t do it just to please them when they are watching you. Obey them with an honest heart. Do it out of respect for the Lord.

Do not love the world or anything in it. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

So Samuel spoke to all the Israelites. He said, “Do you really want to return to the Lord with all your hearts? If you do, get rid of your false gods. Get rid of your statues of female gods that are named Ashtoreth. Commit yourselves to the Lord. Serve him only. Then he will save you from the power of the Philistines.”
