Israel said to Joseph, “I never thought I’d see your face again. But now God has let me see your children too.”

Sinful people send their children out like a flock of lambs. Their little ones dance around.

But God saves suffering people while they suffer. He speaks to them while they are hurting.

After all of that happened, Job lived for 140 years. He saw his children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

He lifts up people who are lowly in spirit. He lifts up those who are sad. He keeps them safe.

In the past, things went well with you. But in days to come, things will get even better.

May you live to see your grandchildren. May Israel enjoy peace.

But he brought his people out like a flock. He led them like sheep through the desert.

Grandchildren are like a crown to older people. And children are proud of their parents.

Here is what the Lord announces. “The days are coming when I will plant the kingdoms of Israel and Judah again. I will plant them with children and young animals.

As you know, we think that people who don’t give up are blessed. You have heard that Job was patient. And you have seen what the Lord finally did for him. The Lord is full of tender mercy and loving concern.

The Lord was gracious to Hannah. Over a period of years she had three more sons and two daughters. During that whole time the boy Samuel grew up serving the Lord.

He raises poor people up from the trash pile. He lifts needy people out of the ashes. He lets them sit with princes. He gives them places of honor. “The foundations of the earth belong to the Lord. On them he has set the world.
