Proverbs 28:14

Blessed is the one who always trembles in front of God. But anyone who makes their heart stubborn will get into trouble.

His wisdom is deep. His power is great. No one opposes him and comes away unharmed.

Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who have respect for the Lord. They find great delight when they obey God’s commands.

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. He is at my right hand. So I will always be secure.

Serve the Lord and have respect for him. Celebrate his rule with trembling.

He says, “Don’t be stubborn as you were at Meribah. Don’t be stubborn as you were that day at Massah in the desert.

The Egyptians chased them. All Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea.

But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by doing their magic tricks. So Pharaoh became stubborn. He wouldn’t listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said.

Even that miracle didn’t change Pharaoh’s mind. In fact, he turned around and went into his palace.

Do not long for what sinners have. But always show great respect for the Lord.

Whoever still won’t obey after being warned many times will suddenly be destroyed. Nothing can save them.

An evil person may be guilty of a hundred crimes. Yet they may still live a long time. But I know that things will go better with those who have great respect for God.

Didn’t I make everything by my power? That is how all things were created,” announces the Lord. “The people I value are not proud. They are sorry for the wrong things they have done. They have great respect for what I say.

I will make a covenant with them that will last forever. I promise that I will never stop doing good to them. I will cause them to respect me. Then they will never turn away from me again.

That’s true. But they were broken off because they didn’t believe. You stand only because you do believe. So don’t be proud, but tremble.

Do you disrespect God’s great kindness and favor? Do you disrespect God when he is patient with you? Don’t you realize that God’s kindness is meant to turn you away from your sins?

But you are stubborn. In your heart you are not sorry for your sins. You are storing up anger against yourself. The day of God’s anger is coming. Then his way of judging fairly will be shown.

God’s promise of enjoying his rest still stands. So be careful that none of you fails to receive it.

You call on a Father who judges each person’s work without favoring one over another. So live as outsiders during your time here. Live with the highest respect for God.
