So they got their father to drink wine that night also. Then the younger daughter slept with him. Again he wasn’t aware when she lay down or when she got up.

So they did. And they used the pole Haman had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s anger calmed down.

From six troubles he will save you. Even if you are in trouble seven times, no harm will come to you.

The person who does what is right may have many troubles. But the Lord saves him from all of them.

Sinners will be killed by their own evil. The enemies of godly people will be judged.

Even if that person trips, he won’t fall. The Lord’s hand takes good care of him.

So God will destroy you forever. He will grab you and pluck you from your tent. He will remove you from this life.

The trouble they cause comes back on them. The terrible things they do will happen to them.

Lord, our neighbors have laughed at you. Pay them back seven times for what they have done.

An evil messenger gets into trouble. But a trusted messenger brings healing.

Hard times chase those who are sinful. But those who do right are rewarded with good things.

When trouble comes, sinners are brought down. But godly people seek safety in God even as they die.

The Lord and the king will suddenly destroy them. Who knows what trouble those two can bring?

Trouble will catch up with him in an instant. He will suddenly be destroyed, and nothing can save him.

I will sweep over my people like a wind from the east. I will use the Babylonians to scatter them. I will show them my back and not my face. I will desert them when their day of trouble comes.’ ”

“Jeremiah, tell them, ‘The Lord says, “ ‘ “When people fall down, don’t they get up again? When someone turns away, don’t they come back?

“I am the Lord and King. I say, ‘Horrible trouble is coming! No one has ever heard of anything like it. It is here!

“The people of Israel have fallen. They will never get up again. They are deserted in their own land. No one can lift them up.”

Some people make promises in the name of Samaria’s god. That god has led them astray. Others say, ‘People of Dan, you can be sure that your god is alive.’ Still others say, ‘You can be sure that Beersheba’s god is alive.’ But all these people will fall dead. They will never get up again.”

“But what if you fail to do your duty? Then you will be sinning against the Lord. And you may be sure that your sin will be discovered. It will be brought out into the open.

Right away an angel of the Lord struck Herod down. Herod had not given praise to God. So he was eaten by worms and died.

People will be saying that everything is peaceful and safe. Then suddenly they will be destroyed. It will happen like birth pains coming on a pregnant woman. None of the people will escape.

You can be sure that the Lord lives,” he said. “And you can be just as sure that the Lord himself will strike Saul down. Perhaps he’ll die a natural death. Or perhaps he’ll go into battle and be killed.

Saul spoke to the man carrying his armor. He said, “Pull out your sword. Stick it through me. If you don’t, these fellows who aren’t circumcised will come. They’ll stick their swords through me and hurt me badly.” But the man was terrified. He wouldn’t do it. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it.
