I will make my covenant with you last forever. It will be between me and you and your family after you for all time to come. I will be your God. And I will be the God of all your family after you.

There was a man who lived in the land of Uz. His name was Job. He was honest. He did what was right. He had respect for God and avoided evil.

Their children will be powerful in the land. Because they are honest, their children will be blessed.

Anyone who lives without blame and does what is right. They speak the truth from their heart.

Lord, when you hand down your sentence, let it be in my favor. I have lived without blame. I have trusted in the Lord. I have never doubted him.

But I live without blame. Save me from harm and treat me with kindness.

The godly are always giving and lending freely. Their children will be a blessing.

A good person leaves what they own to their children and grandchildren. But a sinner’s wealth is stored up for those who do right.

Whoever has respect for the Lord lives a good life. But those who hate him walk down an evil path.

Anyone who shows respect for the Lord has a strong tower. It will be a safe place for their children.

It is better to be poor and to live without blame than to be foolish and to twist words around.

People must do what is right. They must be honest and tell the truth. They must not get rich by cheating others. Their hands must not receive money from those who want special favors. They must not let their ears listen to plans to commit murder. They must close their eyes to even thinking about doing what is evil.

I will give them a single purpose in life. Then, they will always have respect for me. Then all will go well for them. And it will also go well for their children after them.

Both of them did what was right in the sight of God. They obeyed all the Lord’s commands and rules faithfully.

The promise is for you and your children. It is also for all who are far away. It is for all whom the Lord our God will choose.”

Here is what we take pride in. Our sense of what is right and wrong tells us how we have acted. We have lived with honor and godly honesty. We have depended on God’s grace and not on the world’s wisdom. We lived that way most of all when we were dealing with you.
