Anyone who laughs at those who are poor makes fun of their Maker. Anyone who is happy when others suffer will be punished.

My great love for your house destroys me. Those who make fun of you make fun of me also.

It is a sin to hate your neighbor. But blessed is the person who is kind to those in need.

Anyone who crushes poor people makes fun of their Maker. But anyone who is kind to those in need honors God.

The Lord hates all those who have proud hearts. You can be sure that they will be punished.

I haven’t run away from being the shepherd of your people. You know I haven’t wanted the day of Jerusalem’s fall to come. You are aware of every word that comes from my lips.

You did harmful things to the people of Jacob. They are your relatives. So you will be covered with shame. You will be destroyed forever.

You Edomites made my holy mountain of Zion impure by drinking and celebrating there. So all the nations will drink from the cup of my anger. And they will keep on drinking from it. They will vanish. It will be as if they had never existed.

Be joyful with those who are joyful. Be sad with those who are sad.

Suppose someone sees a brother or sister in need and is able to help them. And suppose that person doesn’t take pity on these needy people. Then how can the love of God be in that person?
