The Lord is far away from those who do wrong. But he hears the prayers of those who do right.
In fact, God doesn’t listen to their empty cries. The Mighty One doesn’t pay any attention to them.
Lord, why are you so far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
Though the Lord is high above all, he cares for the lowly. Though he is in heaven above, he sees them on earth below.
They cried out for help. But there was no one to save them. They called out to the Lord. But he didn’t answer them.
Those who don’t want anything to do with you will die. You destroy all those who aren’t faithful to you.
“Then you will call to me. But I won’t answer. You will look for me. But you won’t find me.
The cheerful look of a messenger brings joy to your heart. And good news gives health to your body.
The Lord hates the sacrifice of sinful people. But the prayers of honest people please him.
But your sins have separated you from your God. They have caused him to turn his face away from you. So he won’t listen to you.
“Then they will go away to be punished forever. But those who have done what is right will receive eternal life.”
We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does what he wants them to do.
The Lord’s eyes look on godly people, and he blesses them. His ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord doesn’t bless those who do evil.” (Psalm 34:12–16)
