The accused person must stay in that city until the high priest dies. Only then may they return home.
And suppose the dead person’s nearest male relative finds them outside the city. Then the relative can kill the accused person. The relative will not be guilty of murder.

But Paul spoke to the commander and the soldiers. “These men must stay with the ship,” he said. “If they don’t, you can’t be saved.”
But we don’t belong to the people who pull back and are destroyed. We belong to the people who believe and are saved.
We belong to Christ if we hold tightly to the faith we had at first. But we must hold it tightly until the end.
