The Lord spoke to Moses. He said,
So you won’t even have anyone left in the Lord’s community who can divide up the land for you.
Those two and a half tribes have received their shares east of the Jordan River. It flows near Jericho. Their land is toward the sunrise.”
“Here are the names of the men who will give out the shares of the land to your people. They are Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun.
The rest of the tribes of Israel received their shares of land in Canaan. Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun, decided what each of the tribes should receive. The leaders of the tribes helped them make these decisions.
Then Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh in the sight of the Lord. There he gave out a share of land to each of the remaining tribes in Israel.
