Moab’s people go to their high place to pray. But all they do is wear themselves out. Their god Chemosh can’t help them at all.

“Well, I’ve come to you now,” Balaam replied. “But I can’t say whatever I please. I can only speak the words God puts in my mouth.”

Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep. He gave some to Balaam. He also gave some to the officials with him.
