But the chief priests and the elders talked the crowd into asking for Barabbas and having Jesus put to death.
Jeremiah finished telling all the people everything the Lord had commanded him to say. But as soon as he did, the priests, the prophets and all the people grabbed him. They said, “You must die!
“Which of the two do you want me to set free?” asked the governor. “Barabbas,” they answered.
But the chief priests stirred up the crowd. So the crowd asked Pilate to let Barabbas go free instead.
They shouted back, “No! Not him! Give us Barabbas!” Barabbas had taken part in an armed struggle against the country’s rulers.
Every Sabbath day he went to the synagogue. He was trying to get both Jews and Greeks to believe in the Lord.
