Matthew 21:10

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up. The people asked, “Who is this?”

“Who is this man coming up from the desert like a column of smoke? He smells like myrrh and incense made from all the spices of the trader.

Who is this man coming from the city of Bozrah in Edom? His clothes are stained bright red. Who is he? He is dressed up in all his glory. He is marching toward us with great strength. The Lord answers, “It is I. I have won the battle. I am mighty. I have saved my people.”

When King Herod heard about it, he was very upset. Everyone in Jerusalem was troubled too.

The crowds answered, “This is Jesus. He is the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

Some of the people went ahead of him, and some followed. They all shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Psalm 118:26) “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

“Tell us by what authority you are doing these things,” they all said. “Who gave you this authority?”

The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to think, “Who is this fellow who says such an evil thing? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

The other guests began to talk about this among themselves. They said, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

But Herod said, “I had John’s head cut off. So who is it that I hear such things about?” And he tried to see Jesus.

Then the Jewish leaders asked him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do this?”

“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus,” he replied. “I am the one you are opposing.

The two women continued on their way. At last they arrived in Bethlehem. The whole town was stirred up because of them. The women in the town asked, “Can this possibly be Naomi?”

Samuel did what the Lord said. He arrived at Bethlehem. The elders of the town met him. They were trembling with fear. They asked, “Have you come in peace?”
