Two blind men were sitting by the side of the road. They heard that Jesus was going by. So they shouted, “Lord! Son of David! Have mercy on us!”

The Lord gives sight to those who are blind. The Lord lifts up those who feel helpless. The Lord loves those who do what is right.

At that time those who can’t hear will hear what is read from the scroll. Those who are blind will come out of gloom and darkness. They will be able to see.

Israel is blind. So I will lead them along paths they had not known before. I will guide them on roads they are not familiar with. I will turn the darkness into light as they travel. I will make the rough places smooth. Those are the things I will do. I will not desert my people.

“Israel, listen to me! You can hear, but you do not understand. Look to me! You can see, but you do not know what you are seeing.

Like blind people we feel our way along the wall. We are like those who can’t see. At noon we trip and fall as if the sun had already set. Compared to those who are healthy, we are like dead people.

He scattered the seed on the ground. Some fell on a path. Birds came and ate it up.

A woman from Canaan lived near Tyre and Sidon. She came to him and cried out, “Lord! Son of David! Have mercy on me! A demon controls my daughter. She is suffering terribly.”

The crowd commanded them to stop. They told them to be quiet. But the two men shouted even louder, “Lord! Son of David! Have mercy on us!”

Blind people and those who were disabled came to Jesus at the temple. There he healed them.

Some of the people went ahead of him, and some followed. They all shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Psalm 118:26) “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

“What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” “The son of David,” they replied.

Jesus and his disciples came to Jericho. They were leaving the city. A large crowd was with them. A blind man was sitting by the side of the road begging. His name was Bartimaeus. Bartimaeus means Son of Timaeus.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me. He has anointed me to announce the good news to poor people. He has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners. He has sent me so that the blind will see again. He wants me to set free those who are treated badly.

At that time Jesus healed many people. They had illnesses, sicknesses and evil spirits. He also gave sight to many who were blind.

But David was a prophet. He knew that God had made a promise to him. God had promised that he would make someone in David’s family line king after him.
