They came down the mountain. On the way down, Jesus ordered them not to tell anyone what they had seen. He told them to wait until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

He will not argue or cry out. No one will hear his voice in the streets.

Jonah was in the belly of a huge fish for three days and three nights. Something like that will happen to the Son of Man. He will spend three days and three nights in the grave.

From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples what would happen to him. He told them he must go to Jerusalem. There he must suffer many things from the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law. He must be killed and on the third day rise to life again.

“Sir,” they said, “we remember something that liar said while he was still alive. He claimed, ‘After three days I will rise again.’

Then Jesus said to him, “Don’t tell anyone. Go and show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift Moses commanded. It will be a witness to everyone.”

Jesus gave strict orders not to let anyone know what had happened. And he told them to give her something to eat.

Jesus ordered the people not to tell anyone. But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it.

So they kept the matter to themselves. But they asked each other what “rising from the dead” meant.

They looked around. Suddenly they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.

He told them, “This is what is written. The Messiah will suffer. He will rise from the dead on the third day.

When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept quiet about this. They didn’t tell anyone at that time what they had seen.
