Mark 9:1

Jesus said to them, “What I’m about to tell you is true. Some who are standing here will not die before they see that God’s kingdom has come with power.”

“What I’m about to tell you is true. Some who are standing here will not die before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven. At that time, all the peoples of the earth will mourn. They will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven. He will come with power and great glory.

“The Son of Man will come in all his glory. All the angels will come with him. Then he will sit in glory on his throne.

“At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds. He will come with great power and glory.

What I’m about to tell you is true. The people living now will certainly not pass away until all those things have happened.

The Spirit had told Simeon that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.

I tell you, I will not drink wine with you again until God’s kingdom comes.”

Then you will eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. And you will sit on thrones, judging the 12 tribes of Israel.

“What I’m about to tell you is true. Some who are standing here will not die before they see God’s kingdom.”

Because of what Jesus said, a false report spread among the believers. The story was told that the disciple Jesus loved wouldn’t die. But Jesus did not say he would not die. He only said, “Suppose I want him to remain alive until I return. What does that matter to you?”

But we do see Jesus already given a crown of glory and honor. He was made lower than the angels for a little while. He suffered death. By the grace of God, he tasted death for everyone. That is why he was given his crown.
