I will pay attention to a proverb. I will explain my riddle as I play the harp.

I will open my mouth and tell a story. I will speak about things that were hidden. They happened a long time ago.

The disciples came to him. They asked, “Why do you use stories when you speak to the people?”

Then he told them many things using stories. He said, “A farmer went out to plant his seed.

Jesus finished saying all these things. The crowds were amazed at his teaching.

Jesus left that place and went into the area of Judea and across the Jordan River. Again crowds of people came to him. As usual, he taught them.

Jesus began to speak to the people using stories. He said, “A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it. He dug a pit for a winepress. He also built a lookout tower. He rented the vineyard out to some farmers. Then he went to another place.

As he taught, he said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in long robes. They like to be greeted with respect in the market.

So Jesus called them over to him. He began to speak to them using stories. He said, “How can Satan drive out Satan?

He told them, “The secret of God’s kingdom has been given to you. But to outsiders everything is told using stories.

“Listen! A farmer went out to plant his seed.

Meanwhile, the high priest questioned Jesus. He asked him about his disciples and his teaching.
