One day Jesus was praying alone. Only his disciples were with him. He asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?”
After he had sent them away, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone.
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane. He said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples spoke to him. “Lord,” he said, “teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened.
On one of those days, Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray. He spent the night praying to God.
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist. Others say Elijah. Still others say that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.”
About eight days after Jesus said this, he went up on a mountain to pray. He took Peter, John and James with him.
As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed. His clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.
