But the whole crowd shouted, “Kill this man! But let Barabbas go!”
Barabbas had been thrown into prison. He had taken part in a struggle in the city against the authorities. He had also committed murder.
But Peter had to wait outside by the door. The other disciple came back. He was the one the high priest knew. He spoke to the servant woman who was on duty there. Then he brought Peter in.
The crowd that followed kept shouting, “Get rid of him!”
The crowd listened to Paul until he said this. Then they shouted, “Kill him! He isn’t fit to live!”
You spoke against the Holy and Blameless One. You asked for a murderer to be set free instead.
