I was afraid and said, “I’ve been cut off from you!” But you heard my cry for your favor. You heard me when I called out to you for help.

So I say, “My glory has faded away. My hope in the Lord is gone.”

I call out and cry for help. But he won’t listen to me when I pray.

Give to the one who asks you for something. Don’t turn away from the one who wants to borrow something from you.

Everyone who asks will receive. The one who searches will find. The door will be opened to the one who knocks.

“Fathers, suppose your son asks for a fish. Which of you will give him a snake instead?

“So here is what I say to you. Ask, and it will be given to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.

Jesus told his disciples a story. He wanted to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

When you do ask for something, you don’t receive it. That’s because you ask for the wrong reason. You want to spend your money on your sinful pleasures.

As you know, we think that people who don’t give up are blessed. You have heard that Job was patient. And you have seen what the Lord finally did for him. The Lord is full of tender mercy and loving concern.
