Elisha returned to Gilgal. There wasn’t enough food to eat in that area. The group of the prophets was meeting with Elisha. So he said to his servant, “Put the large pot over the fire. Cook some stew for these prophets.”

Blessed are those who listen to me. They watch every day at my doors. They wait beside my doorway.

But few things are needed. Really, only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better. And it will not be taken away from her.”

After three days they found him in the temple courtyard. He was sitting with the teachers. He was listening to them and asking them questions.

The people went out to see what had happened. Then they came to Jesus. They found the man who was now free of the demons. He was sitting at Jesus’ feet. He was dressed and thinking clearly. All this made the people afraid.

A man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village where Mary and her sister Martha lived.

Many Jews had come to Martha and Mary. They had come to comfort them because their brother was dead.

Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard. It was an expensive perfume. She poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the sweet smell of the perfume.

“I am a Jew. I was born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but I grew up here in Jerusalem. I studied with Gamaliel. I was well trained by him in the law given to our people long ago. I wanted to serve God as much as any of you do today.

Lord, I’m sure you love your people. All the holy ones are in your hands. At your feet all of them bow down. And you teach them.
