Open my eyes so that I can see the wonderful truths in your law.

So once more I will shock these people with many wonderful acts. I will destroy the wisdom of those who think they are so wise. I will do away with the cleverness of those who think they are so smart.”

At that time those who can’t hear will hear what is read from the scroll. Those who are blind will come out of gloom and darkness. They will be able to see.

Then the eyes of those who are blind will be opened. The ears of those who can’t hear will be unplugged.

Blind people receive sight. Disabled people walk. Those who have skin diseases are made ‘clean.’ Deaf people hear. Those who are dead are raised to life. And the good news is preached to those who are poor.

Jesus said to them, “Haven’t you ever read what the Scriptures say, “ ‘The stone the builders didn’t accept has become the most important stone of all. The Lord has done it. It is wonderful in our eyes’? (Psalm 118:22,23)

He was amazed because they had no faith. Jesus went around teaching from village to village.

So Jesus replied to the messengers, “Go back to John. Tell him what you have seen and heard. Blind people receive sight. Disabled people walk. Those who have skin diseases are made ‘clean.’ Deaf people hear. Those who are dead are raised to life. And the good news is announced to those who are poor.

Jesus had performed so many signs in front of them. But they still would not believe in him.

“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus. “Don’t you understand these things?

We know that God spoke to Moses. But we don’t even know where this fellow comes from.”

We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does what he wants them to do.

God said, “Let light shine out of darkness.” (Genesis 1:3) He made his light shine in our hearts. His light gives us the light to know God’s glory. His glory is shown in the face of Christ.
