They also brought barley and straw for the chariot horses and the other horses. Each of the governors brought the amounts required of them. They brought them to the proper places.

Elisha replied, “Listen to a message from the Lord. He says, ‘About this time tomorrow, flour won’t cost very much. Even 12 pounds of the finest flour will cost less than half of an ounce of silver. You will also be able to buy 20 pounds of barley for the same price. That’s all you will have to pay for those things at the gate of Samaria.’ ”

He keeps your borders safe and secure. He satisfies you with the finest wheat.

They spoke against God. They said, “Can God really put food on a table in the desert?

Again and again they tested God. They made the Holy One of Israel sad and angry.

But you would be fed with the finest wheat. I would satisfy you with the sweetest honey.”

“ ‘ “Judah and Israel did business with you. They traded wheat from Minnith, sweets, honey, olive oil and lotion for your products.

“We have only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

Don’t you understand yet? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the 5,000? Don’t you remember how many baskets of pieces you gathered?

“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five loaves and two fish.”

Earlier I broke five loaves for the 5,000. How many baskets of pieces did you pick up?” “Twelve,” they replied.

Jesus replied, “You give them something to eat.” The disciples answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish. We would have to go and buy food for all this crowd.”

“Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “I wish you had been here! Then my brother would not have died.

Mary reached the place where Jesus was. When she saw him, she fell at his feet. She said, “Lord, I wish you had been here! Then my brother would not have died.”

Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”

Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them. He did the same thing with the fish.

When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals. There were fish on it. There was also some bread.

Then Jesus took the loaves and gave thanks. He handed out the bread to those who were seated. He gave them as much as they wanted. And he did the same with the fish.

Philip answered him, “Suppose we were able to buy enough bread for each person to have just a bite. That would take more than half a year’s pay!”

You know the grace shown by our Lord Jesus Christ. Even though he was rich, he became poor to help you. Because he became poor, you can become rich.

He gave them butter and milk from the herds and flocks. He fed them the fattest lambs and goats. He gave them the best of Bashan’s rams. He fed them the finest wheat. They drank the bubbling red juice of grapes.

It has wheat, barley, vines, fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey.

Next, I heard what sounded like a voice coming from among the four living creatures. It said, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s pay. And six pounds of barley for a day’s pay. And leave the olive oil and the wine alone!”
