Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh. But unless you give an order, no one will do anything in the whole land of Egypt.”

When all the people of Egypt began to get hungry, they cried out to Pharaoh for food. He told all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph. Do what he tells you.”

Ask me, and I will give the nations to you. All nations on earth will belong to you.

I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight day after day. I was always happy to be with him.

“Here is my servant. I take good care of him. I have chosen him. I am very pleased with him. I will put my Spirit on him. He will bring justice to the nations.

And he was given authority, glory and a kingdom. People of all nations, no matter what language they spoke, worshiped him. His authority will last forever. It will not pass away. His kingdom will never be destroyed.

“My Father has given all things to me. The Father is the only one who knows the Son. And the only ones who know the Father are the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to make him known.

While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them. A voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, and I love him. I am very pleased with him. Listen to him!”

Then Jesus came to them. He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

A voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, and I love him. I am very pleased with him.”

“My Father has given all things to me. The Father is the only one who knows who the Son is. And the only ones who know the Father are the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to make the Father known.”

Jesus knew that the Father had put everything under his power. He also knew he had come from God and was returning to God.

“Just as the Father has loved me, I have loved you. Now remain in my love.

You gave him authority over all people. He gives eternal life to all those you have given him.

I will be in them, just as you are in me. This is so that they may be brought together perfectly as one. Then the world will know that you sent me. It will also show the world that you have loved those you gave me, just as you have loved me.

I have shown you to them. And I will continue to show you to them. Then the love you have for me will be in them. I myself will be in them.”

This is because the Father loves the Son. The Father shows him everything he does. Yes, and the Father will show the Son even greater works than these. And you will be amazed.

Also, the Father does not judge anyone. He has given the Son the task of judging.

Scripture says that God “has put everything under his control.” (Psalm 8:6) It says that “everything” has been put under him. But it is clear that this does not include God himself. That’s because God put everything under Christ.

God placed all things under Christ’s rule. He appointed him to be ruler over everything for the church.

But in these last days, he has spoken to us through his Son. He is the one whom God appointed to receive all things. God also made everything through him.

He has gone into heaven. He is at God’s right hand. Angels, authorities and powers are under his control.
