“A time is coming when you will be scattered and go to your own homes. In fact, that time is already here. You will leave me all alone. But I am not really alone. My Father is with me.

“My sword, wake up! Attack my shepherd! Attack the man who is close to me,” announces the Lord who rules over all. “Strike down the shepherd. Then the sheep will be scattered. And I will turn my hand against their little ones.

Jesus told them, “This very night you will all turn away because of me. It is written that the Lord said, “ ‘I will strike the shepherd down. Then the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ (Zechariah 13:7)

But all this has happened so that the words of the prophets would come true.” Then all the disciples left him and ran away.

“You will all turn away,” Jesus told the disciples. “It is written, “ ‘I will strike the shepherd down. Then the sheep will be scattered.’ (Zechariah 13:7)

Then everyone left him and ran away.

Jesus replied, “The time has come for the Son of Man to receive glory.

You will be thrown out of the synagogue. In fact, the time is coming when someone may kill you. And they will think they are doing God a favor.

“I have not been speaking to you plainly. But a time is coming when I will speak clearly. Then I will tell you plainly about my Father.

“Do you believe now?” Jesus replied.

He said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, the disciple took her into his home.

Then the disciples went back to where they were staying.

Jesus said, “Woman, believe me. A time is coming when you will not worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.

But a new time is coming. In fact, it is already here. True worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth. They are the kind of worshipers the Father is looking for.

What I’m about to tell you is true. A time is coming for me to give life. In fact, it has already begun. The dead will hear the voice of the Son of God. Those who hear it will live.

“Do not be amazed at this. A time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice.

But if I do judge, what I decide is true. This is because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me.

The one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him.”

We said goodbye to each other. Then we went on board the ship. And they returned home.

And Saul had agreed with the Sanhedrin that Stephen should die. On that day the church in Jerusalem began to be attacked and treated badly. All except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.
