My God, I have come to do what you want. Your law is in my heart.”

The Lord and King has unplugged my ears. I’ve always obeyed him. I haven’t turned away from him.

He went a little farther. Then he fell with his face to the ground. He prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, take this cup of suffering away from me. But let what you want be done, not what I want.”

Get up! Let us go! Here comes the one who is handing me over to them!”

But I have a baptism of suffering to go through. And I must go through it.

No one takes it from me. I give it up myself. I have the authority to give it up. And I have the authority to take it back again. I received this command from my Father.”

“My soul is troubled. What should I say? ‘Father, keep me from having to go through with this’? No. This is the very reason I have come to this point in my life.

I did not speak on my own. The Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have said.

It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world. It was time for him to go to the Father. Jesus loved his disciples who were in the world. So he now loved them to the very end.

“Just as the Father has loved me, I have loved you. Now remain in my love.

Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shouldn’t I drink the cup of suffering the Father has given me?”

Jesus said, “My food is to do what my Father sent me to do. My food is to finish his work.

He appeared as a man. He was humble and obeyed God completely. He did this even though it led to his death. Even worse, he died on a cross!
