I did not speak on my own. The Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have said.

Don’t you believe that I am in the Father? Don’t you believe that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. The Father lives in me. He is the one who is doing his work.

Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. The words you hear me say are not my own. They belong to the Father who sent me.

But he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father. They must also learn that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me to do. “Come now. Let us leave.

I do not call you slaves anymore. Slaves do not know their master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends. I have told you everything I learned from my Father.

I gave them the words you gave me. And they accepted them. They knew for certain that I came from you. They believed that you sent me.

What I’m about to tell you is true. We speak about what we know. We are witnesses about what we have seen. But still you people do not accept what we say.

He is a witness to what he has seen and heard. But no one accepts what he says.

Jesus answered, “What I’m about to tell you is true. The Son can do nothing by himself. He can do only what he sees his Father doing. What the Father does, the Son also does.

I can do nothing by myself. I judge only as I hear. And my judging is fair. I do not try to please myself. I try to please the one who sent me.

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, who can we go to? You have the words of eternal life.

Jesus answered, “What I teach is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.

“I have a lot to say that will judge you. But the one who sent me can be trusted. And I tell the world what I have heard from him.”

So Jesus said, “You will lift up the Son of Man. Then you will know that I am he. You will also know that I do nothing on my own. I speak just what the Father has taught me.

Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me. I have come here from God. I have not come on my own. God sent me.

I will raise up for them a prophet like you. He will be one of their own people. I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him to say.

This is the revelation from Jesus Christ. God gave it to him to show those who serve God what will happen soon. God made it known by sending his angel to his servant John.
