During that time a messenger came to Job. He said, “The oxen were plowing. The donkeys were eating grass near them.

Will you depend on them for their great strength? Will you let them do your heavy work?

“Who let the wild donkeys go free? Who untied their ropes?

They laugh at all the noise in town. They do not hear the shouts of the donkey drivers.

“Job, will wild oxen agree to serve you? Will they stay by your feed box at night?

Can you make a pet out of it like a bird? Can you put it on a leash for the young women in your house?

They have made deep wounds in my back. It looks like a field a farmer has plowed.

You who live in Lachish, get your fast horses ready to pull their chariots. You trust in military power. Lachish was where sin began for the people of Zion. The wrong things Israel did were also done by you.

God brought them out of Egypt. They are as strong as a wild ox.
