Then the Sabeans attacked us and carried off the animals. They killed some of the servants with their swords. I’m the only one who has escaped to tell you!”

While he was still speaking, a third messenger came. He said, “The Chaldeans separated themselves into three groups. They attacked your camels and carried them off. They killed the rest of the servants with their swords. I’m the only one who has escaped to tell you!”

They’ve crushed poor people and left them with nothing. They’ve taken over houses they didn’t even build.

“Suppose my land cries out against me. And all its soil is wet with tears.

Hungry people eat up the crops of the foolish. They even take the food that grows among thorns. Thirsty people long for the wealth of the foolish.

Don’t move old boundary stones set up by your people of long ago.

Don’t move old boundary stones. Don’t try to take over the fields of children whose fathers have died.

Judah’s leaders have stolen some land. They have moved their borders farther north. So I will pour out my anger on them like a flood of water.

Don’t move your neighbor’s boundary stone. It was set up by people who lived there before you. It marks the border of a field in the land you will receive as your own. The Lord your God is giving you that land. You will take it over.

“May anyone who moves their neighbor’s boundary stone be under the Lord’s curse.” Then all the people will say, “Amen!”
