Listen to my case. Listen as I make my appeal.

Aren’t God’s words of comfort enough for you? He speaks them to you gently.

“I’ve heard many of these things before. All of you are terrible at comforting me!

“Job, when will you stop these speeches of yours? Be reasonable! Then we can talk.

Put up with me while I speak. After I’ve spoken, you can make fun of me!

“Job, listen now to my words. Pay attention to everything I say.

“Hear what I’m saying, you wise men. Listen to me, you who have learned so much.

Why spend money on what is not food? Why work for what does not satisfy you? Listen carefully to me. Then you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the richest food there is.

So we must pay the most careful attention to what we have heard. Then we will not drift away from it.
