I myself promise to keep Benjamin safe. You can blame me if I don’t bring him back to you. I’ll set him right here in front of you. If I don’t, you can put the blame on me for the rest of my life.

I promised my father I would keep the boy safe. I said, ‘Father, I’ll bring him back to you. If I don’t, you can put the blame on me for the rest of my life.’

Eliphaz continued, “Call out if you want to, Job. But who will answer you? Which one of the holy angels will you turn to?

I wish someone would settle matters between us. I wish someone would bring us together.

Make sure that everything goes well with me. Don’t let proud people treat me badly.

Whoever promises to pay for what someone else owes will certainly suffer. But a person who doesn’t agree to pay someone else’s bill is safe.

A person who has no sense agrees to pay what other people owe. It isn’t wise to promise to pay other people’s bills.

Take the coat of one who puts up money for what a stranger owes. Hold it until you get paid back if it is done for an outsider.

Don’t agree to pay for what someone else owes. And don’t agree to pay their bills for them.

Then you would be poor, as if someone had robbed you. You would have little, as if someone had stolen from you.

I cried softly like a weak little bird. I sounded like a dove as I mourned. My eyes grew tired as I looked up toward heaven. Lord, my life is in danger. Please come and help me!

Because God gave his word, Jesus makes certain the promise of a better covenant.
