While I was busy here and there, the man disappeared.” The king of Israel spoke to him. He told him, “What you’ve just said is what will happen to you.”

They walk more slowly than they used to. Their own evil plans make them fall.

“Would you dare to claim that I am not being fair? Would you judge me in order to make yourself seem right?

You asked me, ‘Who do you think you are to disagree with my plans? You do not know what you are talking about.’ I spoke about things I didn’t completely understand. I talked about things that were too wonderful for me to know.

Even if I hadn’t sinned, what I said would prove me guilty. Even if I were honest, my words would show that I’m wrong.

He will turn their own words against them. He will destroy them. All those who see them will shake their heads and look down on them.

By your words you will be found guilty or not guilty.”

Then the high priest tore his clothes. He said, “He has spoken a very evil thing against God! Why do we need any more witnesses? You have heard him say this evil thing.

“His master replied, ‘I will judge you by your own words, you evil slave! So you knew that I am a hard man? You knew that I take out what I did not put in? You knew that I harvest what I did not plant?
