So I bought a belt, just as the Lord had told me to do. And I put it around my waist.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding.
Three years earlier the Lord had spoken to Isaiah, the son of Amoz. The Lord had said, “Take off the rough clothing you are wearing. And take off your sandals.” So Isaiah did. He went around barefoot and naked.
Then another message from the Lord came to me. The Lord said,
Son of man, listen to what I tell you. Do not be like those who refuse to obey me. Open your mouth. Eat what I give you.”
John’s clothes were made out of camel’s hair. He had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
You are my friends if you do what I command.
