Isaiah 43:10

New International Reader's Version

“People of Israel, you are my witnesses,” announces the Lord. “I have chosen you to be my servant. I wanted you to know me and believe in me. I wanted you to understand that I am the one and only God. Before me, there was no other god at all. And there will not be any god after me.

But you remain the same. Your years will never end.

So Aaron reached out his hand over the waters of Egypt. The frogs came up and covered the land.

Then people will see and know that my powerful hand has done it. They will consider and understand that I have created it. I am the Holy One of Israel.”

Who has made that happen? Who has carried it out? Who has created all the people who have ever lived? I, the Lord, have done it. I was with the first of them. And I will be with the last of them.”

The Lord says, “People of Israel, you are my servants. Family of Jacob, I have chosen you. You are the children of my friend Abraham.

“Here is my servant. I take good care of him. I have chosen him. I am very pleased with him. I will put my Spirit on him. He will bring justice to the nations.

I have made known what would happen. I saved you. I have told you about it. I did this. It was not some other god you worship. You are my witnesses that I am God,” announces the Lord.

I am the Lord. There is no other Lord. I am the one and only God. You do not know anything about me. But I will make you strong.

Then people will know there is no God but me. Everyone from where the sun rises in the east to where it sets in the west will know it. I am the Lord. There is no other Lord.

“Family of Jacob, listen to me. People of Israel, pay attention. I have chosen you. I am the first and the last. I am the Lord.

Their kings will become like fathers to you. Their queens will be like mothers who nurse you. They will bow down to you with their faces toward the ground. They will kiss the dust at your feet to show you their respect. Then you will know that I am the Lord. Those who put their hope in me will not be ashamed.”

I made him a witness to the nations. He became a ruler and commander over them.

“ ‘Zerubbabel, at that time I will pick you,’ announces the Lord. ‘You are my servant,’ announces the Lord. ‘You will be like a ring that has my royal mark on it. I have chosen you,’ announces the Lord who rules over all.”

You must also be witnesses about me. That’s because you have been with me from the beginning.

But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. If you believe this, you will have life because you belong to him.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. Then you will tell people about me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria. And you will even tell other people about me from one end of the earth to the other.”

More than that, we would be lying about God. We are witnesses that God raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if the dead are not raised.

“Look! I am the One! There is no other God except me. I put some people to death. I bring others to life. I have wounded, and I will heal. No one can save you from my power.

The Lord showed you those things so that you might know he is God. There is no other God except him.

The Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. Today you must agree with that and take it to heart. There is no other God.

Instead, he made himself nothing. He did this by taking on the nature of a servant. He was made just like human beings.

You learned the good news from Epaphras. He is dear to us. He serves Christ together with us. He faithfully works for Christ and for us among you.

John is a witness to everything he saw. What he saw is God’s word and what Jesus Christ has said.

May grace and peace come to you from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness, so what he has shown can be trusted. He was the first to rise from the dead. He rules over the kings of the earth. Glory and power belong to Jesus Christ who loves us! He has set us free from our sins by pouring out his blood for us.

“Here is what I command you to write to the church in Laodicea. Here are the words of Jesus, who is the Amen. What he speaks is faithful and true. He rules over what God has created. He says,
