The Lord is in his holy temple. The Lord is on his throne in heaven. He watches everyone on earth. His eyes study them.

Our God is in heaven. He does anything he wants to do.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be honored among the nations. I will be honored in the earth.”

The Lord says, “People who live on the islands, come and stand quietly in front of me. Let the nations gain new strength in order to state their case. Let them come forward and speak. Let us go to court and find out who is right.

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord. He was seated on his throne. His long robe filled the temple. He was highly honored.

The Lord says, “Heaven is my throne. The earth is under my control. So how could you ever build a house for me? Where would my resting place be?

Hear the loud sounds coming from the city! Listen to the noise coming from the temple! I am the one causing it. I am paying back my enemies for everything they have done.

I said, ‘I have been driven away from you. But I will look again toward your holy temple in Jerusalem.’

“When my life was nearly over, I remembered you, Lord. My prayer rose up to you. It reached you in your holy temple in heaven.

Listen to me, all you nations! Earth and everyone who lives in it, pay attention! The Lord and King will be a witness against you. The Lord will speak from his holy temple in heaven.

This is a prayer of Habakkuk the prophet. It is on shigionoth. Here is what he said.

Be silent in front of him. He is the Lord and King. The day of the Lord is near. The Lord has prepared a sacrifice. He has set apart for himself the people he has invited.

All you people of the world, be still because the Lord is coming. He is getting ready to come down from his holy temple in heaven.”
