Lot looked around. He saw that the whole Jordan River valley toward the town of Zoar had plenty of water. It was like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt. This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

They went to war against five other kings. They were Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboyim, and the king of Bela. Bela was also called Zoar.

The Lord said to Lot, “All right. I will also give you what you are asking for. I will not destroy the town you are talking about.

By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land.

Now leave me alone. I will destroy them because of my great anger. Then I will make you into a great nation.”

My heart cries out over Moab. Some who run away get as far as Zoar. Others run all the way to Eglath Shelishiyah. Others go up the hill to Luhith. They are weeping as they go. Still others travel the road to Horonaim. They sing a song of sadness because their town is being destroyed.

The Lord says, “Sometimes juice is still left in grapes that have been crushed. So people say, ‘Don’t destroy them.’ They are still of some benefit.” That is what I will do for the good of those who serve me. I will not destroy all my people.

“The sound of their cry rises from Heshbon. It rises as far as Elealeh and Jahaz. It rises from Zoar. It goes all the way to Horonaim and Eglath Shelishiyah. Even the waters at Nimrim are dried up.

Jesus placed his hands on a few sick people and healed them. But he could not do any other miracles there.

Moses saw the Negev Desert. He saw the whole area from the Valley of Jericho all the way to Zoar. Jericho was also known as The City of Palm Trees.

Do not try to stop me. I am going to destroy them. I will wipe them out from the earth. Then I will make you into a great nation. Your people will be stronger than they were. There will be more of you than there were of them.”

Even if we are not faithful, he remains faithful. He must be true to himself.

That belief and understanding lead to the hope of eternal life. Before time began, God promised to give that life. And he does not lie.
