Moses spoke to the Lord. He said, “Lord, I’ve never been a good speaker. And I haven’t gotten any better since you spoke to me. I don’t speak very well at all.”

“You people think you are the only ones who matter! You are sure that wisdom will die with you!

But Moses spoke to God. “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?” he said. “Who am I that I should bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

Moses answered, “What if the elders of Israel won’t believe me? What if they won’t listen to me? Suppose they say, ‘The Lord didn’t appear to you.’ Then what should I do?”

But Moses said to the Lord, “The people won’t listen to me. So why would Pharaoh listen to me? After all, I don’t speak very well.”

But Moses said to the Lord, “I don’t speak very well. So why would Pharaoh listen to me?”

“You are my Lord and King,” I said. “I don’t know how to speak. I’m too young.”

I brought your people up out of Egypt. I set them free from the land where they were slaves. I sent Moses to lead them. Aaron and Miriam helped him.

Moses was taught all the knowledge of the people of Egypt. He became a powerful speaker and a man of action.

Some say, “His letters sound important. They are powerful. But in person he doesn’t seem like much. And what he says doesn’t amount to anything.”

It’s true that I haven’t been trained as a speaker. But I do have knowledge. I’ve made that very clear to you in every way.
