But among the Israelites not even one dog will bark at any person or animal.’ Then you will know that the Lord treats Egypt differently from us.

So poor people have hope. And God shuts the mouths of those who don’t treat others fairly.

If evil people don’t change their ways, God will sharpen his sword. He will get his bow ready to use.

No one could see anyone else or go anywhere for three days. But all the people of Israel had light where they lived.

But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by doing their magic tricks. So Pharaoh became stubborn. He wouldn’t listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said.

So the magicians said to Pharaoh, “God’s powerful finger has done this.” But Pharaoh remained stubborn. He wouldn’t listen, just as the Lord had said.

“ ‘ “But on that day I will treat the area of Goshen differently from yours. That is where my people live. There will not be large numbers of flies in Goshen. Then you will know that I, the Lord, am in this land.

The only place it didn’t hail was in the area of Goshen. That’s where the people of Israel were.

But I will treat Israel’s livestock differently from yours. No animal that belongs to the people of Israel will die.” ’ ”

Then once again you will see the difference between godly people and sinful people. And you will see the difference between those who serve me and those who do not.

Who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you brag as though you did not?

Then Israel’s whole army returned safely to Joshua. He was in the camp at Makkedah. No one in the land dared to say anything against the Israelites.
