Remember your Creator before those who guard the house tremble with old age. That’s when strong men will be bent over. The women who grind grain will stop because there are so few of them left. Those who look through the windows won’t be able to see very well.

Isaac had become old. His eyes were so weak he couldn’t see anymore. One day he called for his older son Esau. He said to him, “My son.” “Here I am,” he answered.

Israel’s eyes were weak because he was old. He couldn’t see very well. So Joseph brought his sons close to him. His father kissed them and hugged them.

When I was still young, he took away my strength. He wasn’t going to let me live much longer.

So I went around crying as if I were mourning over my friend or relative. I bowed my head in sadness as if I were weeping over my mother.

I am bent over. I’ve been brought very low. All day long I go around weeping.

He continued, “Once again old men and women will sit in the streets of Jerusalem. All of them will be using canes because they are old.

One night Eli was lying down in his usual place. His eyes were becoming so weak he couldn’t see very well.
