But I wish they would always have respect for me in their hearts. I wish they would always obey all my commands. Then things would go well with them and their children forever.

Lord, you are the God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Israel. Keep these desires and thoughts in the hearts of your people forever. Keep their hearts faithful to you.

Blessed are those who always do what is fair. Blessed are those who keep doing what is right.

Your servant is warned by them. When people obey them, they are greatly rewarded.

But who can know their own mistakes? Forgive my hidden faults.

Then they would put their trust in God. They would not forget what he had done. They would obey his commands.

But you would be fed with the finest wheat. I would satisfy you with the sweetest honey.”

Tell those who do what is right that things will go well with them. They will enjoy the results of the good things they’ve done.

I wish you would pay attention to my commands. If you did, peace would flow over you like a river. Godliness would sweep over you like the waves of the ocean.

It doesn’t matter whether what you say is in our favor or not. We’re asking you to pray to the Lord our God. And we’ll obey him. Things will go well with us. That’s because we will obey the Lord our God.”

Again and again I sent my servants the prophets. They said, ‘Don’t worship other gods! The Lord hates it!’

“Jerusalem! Jerusalem! You kill the prophets and throw stones in order to kill those who are sent to you. Many times I have wanted to gather your people together. I have wanted to be like a hen who gathers her chicks under her wings. And you would not let me!

He replied, “Instead, blessed are those who hear God’s word and obey it.”

He said, “I wish you had known today what would bring you peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes.

You are my friends if you do what I command.

So we are Christ’s official messengers. It is as if God were making his appeal through us. Here is what Christ wants us to beg you to do. Come back to God!

We work together with God. So we are asking you not to receive God’s grace and then do nothing with it.

“Then things will go well with you. You will live a long time on the earth.” (Deuteronomy 5:16)

And now, Israel, what is the Lord your God asking you to do? Honor him. Live exactly as he wants you to live. Love him. Serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Honor the Lord your God. Serve him. Remain true to him. When you make promises, do so in his name.

Love the Lord your God. Do what he requires. Always obey his rules, laws and commands.

Don’t eat it. Then things will go well with you and your children after you. You will be doing what is right in the eyes of the Lord.

Make sure you obey all the rules I’m giving you. Then things will always go well with you and your children after you. That’s because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God.

Don’t feel sorry for him. He has killed someone who hadn’t done anything wrong. Crimes like that must be punished in Israel. Then things will go well with you.

You can take the little ones. But make sure you let the mother go. Then things will go well with you. You will live for a long time.

Remember the day you stood at Mount Horeb. The Lord your God was there. He said to me, “Bring the people to me to hear my words. I want them to learn to have respect for me as long as they live in the land. I want them to teach my words to their children.”

Don’t add to what I’m commanding you. Don’t subtract from it either. Instead, obey the commands of the Lord your God that I’m giving you.

I’m giving you his rules and commands today. Obey them. Then things will go well with you and your children after you. You will live a long time in the land. The Lord your God is giving you the land for all time to come.

“Honor your father and mother, just as the Lord your God has commanded you. Then you will live a long time in the land he is giving you. And things will go well with you there.

“Go and tell them to return to their tents.

Live exactly as the Lord your God has commanded you to live. Then you will enjoy life in the land you will soon own. Things will go well with you there. You will live there for a long time.

Be sure to obey the Lord’s commands. Obey the terms and rules he has given you.

Do what is right and good in the Lord’s eyes. Then things will go well with you. You will go in and take over the land. It’s the good land the Lord promised to your people of long ago.

Israel, listen to me. Make sure you obey me. Then things will go well with you. The number of your people will increase greatly in a land that has plenty of milk and honey. That’s what the Lord, the God of your parents, promised you.

Obey the commands of the Lord your God. Live as he wants you to live. Have respect for him.

Be sure that you don’t say no to the one who speaks. People did not escape when they said no to the one who warned them on earth. And what if we turn away from the one who warns us from heaven? How much less will we escape!

But suppose someone takes a good look at the perfect law that gives freedom. And they keep looking at it. Suppose they don’t forget what they’ve heard, but they do what the law says. Then this person will be blessed in what they do.

“Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will have the right to come to the tree of life. They will be allowed to go through the gates into the city.

One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi spoke to her. She said, “My daughter, I must find a home for you. It should be a place where you will be provided for.
