Tell the nations about his glory. Tell all people about the wonderful things he has done.

Sing to him, sing praise to him. Tell about all the wonderful things he has done.

With my lips I talk about all the decisions you have made.

I will talk about your covenant laws to kings. I will not be put to shame.

You are the most excellent of men. Your lips have been given the ability to speak gracious words. God has blessed you forever.

Come and hear, all you who have respect for God. Let me tell you what he has done for me.

The words of those who do right benefit many people. But those who are foolish die because they have no sense.

A tongue that calms is like a tree of life. But a tongue that tells lies produces a broken spirit.

The lips of wise people spread knowledge. But the hearts of foolish people are not honest.

Wise people say gracious things. But foolish people are destroyed by what their own lips speak.

Offer them to me. The priests must sprinkle salt on them. Then they must sacrifice them as a burnt offering to me.

Put salt on all your grain offerings. Salt stands for the lasting covenant between you and your God. So do not leave it out of your grain offerings. Add salt to all your offerings.

“You are the salt of the earth. But suppose the salt loses its saltiness. How can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything. It will be thrown out. People will walk all over it.

“Salt is good. But suppose it loses its saltiness. How can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves. And be at peace with each other.”

Everyone said good things about him. They were amazed at the gracious words they heard from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.

Don’t let any evil talk come out of your mouths. Say only what will help to build others up and meet their needs. Then what you say will help those who listen.

Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home. Talk about them when you walk along the road. Speak about them when you go to bed. And speak about them when you get up.

Let the message about Christ live among you like a rich treasure. Teach and correct one another wisely. Teach one another by singing psalms and hymns and songs from the Spirit. Sing to God with thanks in your hearts.

But make sure that in your hearts you honor Christ as Lord. Always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you about the hope you have. Be ready to give the reason for it. But do it gently and with respect.
