So Philip ran up to the chariot. He heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you’re reading?” Philip asked.

I am quick to follow your commands, because you have added to my understanding.

No matter what you do, work at it with all your might. Remember, you are going to the place of the dead. And there isn’t any work or planning or knowledge or wisdom there.

People hear the message about the kingdom but do not understand it. Then the evil one comes. He steals what was planted in their hearts. Those people are like the seed planted on a path.

But the seed that fell on good soil is like those who hear the message and understand it. They produce a crop 100, 60 or 30 times more than the farmer planted.”

You study the Scriptures carefully. You study them because you think they will give you eternal life. The Scriptures you study are a witness about me.

So Philip started out. On his way he met an Ethiopian official. The man had an important position in charge of all the wealth of the Kandake. Kandake means queen of Ethiopia. This official had gone to Jerusalem to worship.

The Holy Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot. Stay near it.”

“How can I?” he said. “I need someone to explain it to me.” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

Philip went down to a city in Samaria. There he preached about the Messiah.

In the church, I wouldn’t want to speak 10,000 words in an unfamiliar language. I’d rather speak five words in a language people could understand. Then I would be teaching others.

So don’t be foolish. Instead, understand what the Lord wants.

This problem requires wisdom. Anyone who is wise should figure out what the beast’s number means. It is the number of a man. And that number is 666.
