They sold property and other things they owned. They gave to anyone who needed something.

They have spread their gifts around to poor people. Their good works continue forever. They will be powerful and honored.

Anyone who is kind to poor people lends to the Lord. God will reward them for what they have done.

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell everything you have. Give the money to those who are poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”

I tell you, use the riches of this world to help others. In that way, you will make friends for yourselves. Then when your riches are gone, you will be welcomed into your eternal home in heaven.

When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You are still missing one thing. Sell everything you have. Give the money to those who are poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”

But Zacchaeus stood up. He said, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of what I own to those who are poor. And if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay it back. I will pay back four times the amount I took.”

The believers decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea. All of them helped as much as they could.

So there were no needy persons among them. From time to time, those who owned land or houses sold them. They brought the money from the sales.

They put it down at the apostles’ feet. It was then given out to anyone who needed it.

I don’t need to write to you about giving to the Lord’s people.

It is written, “They have spread their gifts around to poor people. Their good works continue forever.” (Psalm 112:9)

Suppose someone sees a brother or sister in need and is able to help them. And suppose that person doesn’t take pity on these needy people. Then how can the love of God be in that person?
