God raised Jesus from the dead. He will never rot in the grave. As God has said, “ ‘Holy and sure blessings were promised to David. I will give them to you.’ (Isaiah 55:3)
“Suppose my royal family was not right with God. Then he would not have made a covenant with me that will last forever. Every part of it was well prepared and made secure. Then God would not have saved me completely or given me everything I longed for.
Listen and come to me. Pay attention to me. Then you will live. I will make a covenant with you that will last forever. I will give you my faithful love. I promised it to David.
Only then would I turn my back on the children of Jacob and my servant David. Only then would I not choose one of David’s sons to rule over the children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But I will bless my people with great success again. I will love them with tender love.’ ”
After that, the people of Israel will return to the Lord their God. They will look to him and to a king from the family line of David. In the last days, they will tremble with fear as they come to the Lord. And they will receive his full blessing.
“The time will come when I will set up David’s fallen shelter. I will repair its broken walls. I will rebuild what was destroyed. I will make it what it used to be.
At that time I will be like a shield to those who live in Jerusalem. Then even the weakest among them will be great warriors like David. And David’s family line will be like the angel of the Lord who leads them.
he has done for us, their children. He has raised up Jesus. This is what is written in the second Psalm. It says, “ ‘You are my son. Today I have become your father.’ (Psalm 2:7)
