Then Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law. They had promised to marry his daughters. He said, “Hurry up! Get out of this place! The Lord is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.

Everything that has ever been will come back again. Everything that has ever been done will be done again. Nothing is new on earth.

Sometimes the sentence for a crime isn’t carried out quickly. So people make plans to commit even more crimes.

They keep saying to me, “What has happened to the message the Lord gave you? Let it come true right now!”

They say, ‘Haven’t our houses just been built again? The city is like a pot used for cooking. And we are the meat in it.’

You have worn out the Lord by what you keep saying. “How have we worn him out?” you ask. You have done it by saying, “All those who do evil things are good in the Lord’s sight. And he is pleased with them.” Or you ask, “Is God really fair?”

The Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory. His angels will come with him. And he will reward everyone in keeping with what they have done.

“What I’m about to tell you is true. Some who are standing here will not die before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

The vultures will gather wherever there is a dead body.

But suppose that slave is evil. Suppose he says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time.’

“But at the beginning of creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ (Genesis 1:27)

Those days will be worse than any others from the time God created the world until now. And there will never be any like them again.

But suppose the servant says to himself, ‘My master is taking a long time to come back.’ Suppose that servant begins to beat the other servants, both men and women. Suppose he feeds himself. And suppose he drinks until he gets drunk.

Then he fell on his knees. He cried out, “Lord! Don’t hold this sin against them!” When he had said this, he died.

What is our hope? What is our joy? When our Lord Jesus returns, what is the crown we will delight in? Isn’t it you?

Live like this as you look forward to the day of God. Living like this will make the day come more quickly. On that day fire will destroy the heavens. Its heat will melt everything in them.

“Here is what I command you to write to the church in Laodicea. Here are the words of Jesus, who is the Amen. What he speaks is faithful and true. He rules over what God has created. He says,
