In their hearts human beings plan their lives. But the Lord decides where their steps will take them.

In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is like a stream of water. The Lord directs it toward all those who please him.

The Lord put a message in Balaam’s mouth. The Lord said, “Go back to Balak. Give him my message.”

He looked out and saw Israel. They had set up their camps tribe by tribe. The Spirit of God came on him.

Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord! Lord! Didn’t we prophesy in your name? Didn’t we drive out demons in your name? Didn’t we do many miracles in your name?’

He did not say this on his own because he was high priest at that time. He prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation.

Suppose I have the gift of prophecy. Suppose I can understand all the secret things of God and know everything about him. And suppose I have enough faith to move mountains. If I don’t have love, I am nothing at all.

When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a group of prophets met Saul. Then the Spirit of God came powerfully on him. He prophesied along with them.

A man who lived in Gibeah answered, “Yes, he is. In fact, he’s their leader.” That’s why people say, “Is Saul also one of the prophets?”

The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully on you. Then you will prophesy along with them. You will become a different person.

The next day an evil spirit sent by God came powerfully on Saul. Saul began to prophesy in his house. At that same time David began to play the harp, just as he usually did. Saul was holding a spear.

After David had run away and escaped, he went to Samuel at Ramah. He told him everything Saul had done to him. Then David and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there.

So Saul sent some men to capture him. When they got there, they saw a group of prophets who were prophesying. Samuel was standing there as their leader. Then the Spirit of God came on Saul’s men. So they also began to prophesy.

Finally, Saul decided to go to Ramah himself. He went to the large well at Seku. He asked some people, “Where are Samuel and David?” “Over in Naioth at Ramah,” they said.
